Sitting just right east of Mont-Royal is this colourful neighbourhood known as Le Plateau Mont Royal. Known among folks as the "Plateau" one kind find a variety of local shops of all kinds and murals of many sorts. In fact, walking along and near Saint-Laurent boulevard offers a wide variety of painted murals. Also known very well in this part of the city are the long block houses, attached together forming one street block. Featured on most of them are the second floor stair cases either descending straight or in a spiral along with being three stories high. These places are dressed in variety of different colours.
Montreal is a city compressed with many different neighbourhoods and districts of different faces. Each neighbourhood has its own distinction and character. Whether it pertains to the architecture of one district to another or history, each one is different from the other with a story to tell. The first neighbourhood of discussion is the borough of Southwest. This was the place that housed many old industries that are now historical standing artifacts. Some have been given second and third life while others have unfortunately been abandoned. The Lachine canal runs through this area which it too was given second life as a tourist attraction and a body of water to go kayaking or peddle boat riding. A bicycle path runs right next to it, allowing one to stop by the water and gaze around. Places like Chateau Sainte-Ambroise and the Atwater market have become interesting marvels to visit and explore, each sharing a story of themselves. Meanwhile areas like Griffintown are experiencing a renaissance of life. It is with pleasure to share these next photographs of the Sud-Ouest.
